Undoubtedly for many, Valentine's Day is one of the most important days of the year, in fact for some romantics it could become one of the most anticipated of the year, and it is that without a doubt we all love love, some more than others, but there is no person who does not give in to the romanticism of February 14, a date full of love, affection, happy couples, flowers, chocolates and different celebrations that year after year are innovating and that show us that love is One of the strongest forces of nature.
But where does this celebration come from? Why do we celebrate Valentine's Day? ... the answer could be a bit cruel, and even sad, because in the third century after Christ, Emperor Claudius II forbade marriages, since many men did not enlist in the army because of attachment to their families and homes, it was at that moment that Valentín, a priest, decided to violate the prohibition rule and began to celebrate marriages in secret, until he was discovered by the emperor who sent him to behead immediately, execution that was carried out on February 14, 270 after Christ; later around 494 AD, Pope Gelasio I named him a saint and declared February 14 as Valentine's Day. Obviously a somewhat tragic origin for such a beautiful celebration, but an event without which this tradition would never have existed.
